Bright took on the role of captain for England during the 2023 Women's World Cup, stepping in for the injured Leah Williamson. Despite suffering a significant knee injury just four months before the tournament, Bright showcased her resilience by recovering in time to participate in every game, demonstrating her leadership and commitment to the team. However, she re-aggravated the same knee injury in November, sidelining her from action for several months.

Bright's road to recovery has been arduous but ultimately successful. She made her return to competitive football for Chelsea during the second leg of their Champions League semifinal against Barcelona at Stamford Bridge before making her first start in a 4-3 loss to Liverpool in the WSL.
